Agile PLM 9.3.6 Release Process and Premier Support Extensions

By: Frank Mocek | Senior Principal Product Manager

Agile PLM 9.3.6 Release Process

As you may know, for the Agile PLM 9.3.6 release we are using a release model similar to that which we had with Service Packs in the 9.3.0 and 9.3.1 release streams where, instead of producing a new major release every year, we are producing Release Update Packs or RUPs for the Agile PLM 9.3.6 release on a regular basis - approximately every three months. These RUPs are cumulative and contain bug fixes, security fixes and customer-specific enhancements and may also deliver new certifications (for example, certifying Agile PLM 9.3.6 with SAML2 SSO as well as recent releases of Oracle Database and Fusion Middleware).

This model aligns with the release cycle of other Oracle products, is easier for customers to uptake (in part because it does not require a complete re-install) and enables our Development and Quality Assurance teams to deliver a higher quality product.

Agile PLM Premier Support Extensions

As a result of this change, we have received approval to extend the Premier Support end date for the 9.3.6 release from the current end date of January 2022 to a new end date of June 2024 (an extension of two years and five months). This Premier Support extension is currently pending final technical reviews and, once completed, this change will be reflected in the document Lifetime Support Policy: Oracle Applications. The current version of this document can be found here: https://www.oracle.com/support/lifetime-support/resources.html.

The Premier Support end date for AutoVue 21.0 has been extended from November 2020 to June 2024 to match the Agile PLM 9.3.6 Premier Support end date.  We plan to extend the Premier Support end date for Product Lifecycle Analytics 3.6 and the MCAD Connector to match the Agile PLM 9.3.6 Premier Support end date. We have no plans to extend the Premier Support end date for PIP 3.6 or the ECAD Connector.

Agile PLM Release Cycle

We remain committed to supporting customers of Agile PLM and are reviewing options to support Agile PLM beyond the Agile PLM 9.3.6 Premier Support end date. Continuing development of Agile PLM will be focused on error corrections, security fixes, and carefully targeted enhancements. Any subsequent full release Agile PLM will be driven by requirements to maintain support for the technology stack, including middleware. Please note that Oracle PLM Cloud is our innovation platform for the PLM space and we recommend that customers evaluate this solution as part of their strategic roadmap.

As part of our commitment to the Agile PLM customer base, we will ensure that we give customers clear visibility on all of these matters to enable them to set the right path forward with their Oracle PLM applications.
